Dr. Maxime Jaffré

Dr. Maxime Jaffré has been an Assistant Professor at the United Arab Emirates University since 2018 in the Department of Government and Society, College of Humanities and Social Sciences. His scholarly interests include urban studies, sociology of culture, cultural policy, and data science. Prior to joining UAEU, he was a Research Fellow at the French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS), working at the Centre Norbert Elias in Marseille, France. He also collaborated with the University of Chicago, where he contributed to the development of a cultural map of Paris Métropole commissioned by the City of Paris. Since 2019, he has served as Principal Investigator of the UAEU-funded research project Multiculturalism and Tolerance in the UAE. In 2022, he launched a new research initiative, Building Indicators for the Abu Dhabi Cultural Statistics System, supported by the ASPIRE Award for Research Excellence and conducted in collaboration with the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi. He has published in top-tier Q1 journals. In addition, he has made significant contributions to promoting collaborations with leading institutions and stakeholders, including the Louvre Abu Dhabi, Zayed National Museum, Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, Abu Dhabi Music and Arts Foundation (ADMAF), the UAE Ministry of Tolerance & Coexistence, New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD), Zayed University, Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi (SUAD), and the French Embassy in the UAE, among others.
