
Prof. Ghanim Kashwani
Fellow Chartered Civil Engineer (CEng FICE), Chartered Environmentalist & Academic Leader
Prof. Ghanim Kashwani is a Board Member of the Emirates Scholar Center for Research and Studies and a Professor of Practice with extensive academic and industry experience in civil engineering. A UAE national, he earned his PhD in Civil Engineering from Heriot-Watt University, Scotland, UK. He is a Fellow Chartered Civil Engineer (CEng-FICE) with the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE-UK), a Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv-MSSE), a Chartered Manager (CMgr-MCMI), and a Chartered Scientist (CSci-UK). He holds both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Civil Engineering from the American University of Sharjah (AUS), as well as an MBA from the University of Wales Trinity Saint David, UK.
Professor Kashwani brings significant industrial expertise, having served as a Team Leader at the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) for several years. His academic career includes appointments at internationally recognized institutions such as New York University (NYU) and the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). He has also held senior academic administrative roles, including Senior Manager of Applied Research at the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) in the UAE.
An accomplished researcher, Professor Kashwani has published numerous papers in international journals focusing on construction materials, safety engineering, and fire engineering. In recognition of his contributions to academia and engineering, he was inducted into the Wall of Fame of the American University of Sharjah Alumni and was awarded an Honorary Professorship in Civil Engineering from Heriot-Watt University.
Professor Kashwani was appointed as the first President of the Council of Young Arab Researchers by the Arab Youth Centre (AYC) and received the Most Engaged CEN Alumni Award from the College of Engineering at AUS. Demonstrating a strong commitment to community service, he has served as an elected board member of the Society of Engineers (SOE) in the UAE and as Education Lead at the British Chamber of Commerce Abu Dhabi (BCC AD).
