Dr. Brian J. Willoughby, Ph.D., is a Professor and Associate Director in the School of Family Life at Brigham Young University, a research fellow at The Wheatley Institute, and a senior fellow at the Institute for Family Studies. Dr. Willoughby’s research focuses on barriers to dating and marriage, the impact of modern technology on relationship quality, and young adult development. Dr. Willoughby has published over 100 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters on young adult development, couple dynamics, marriage, and sexuality. Dr. Willoughby currently serves as an associate editor for the Journal of Sex Research and an assistant editor for the academic journal Emerging Adulthood and as a consulting editor for the Archives of Sexual Behavior. His research has been widely cited in the media, appearing in such outlets as the New York Times, USA Today, MSNBC, the New York Post, Men’s Health, the Washington Post, ABC News, Psychology Today, and Prevention Magazine. He has presented his research on marriage at the United Nations, and his academic papers have won international awards from organizations such as the National Council on Family Relations.
