Dr. Lolowa AlMarzooqi is a distinguished participant in the UAE Government Leaders Program, a flagship national initiative under the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs that cultivates the country’s next generation of transformative public-sector leaders driving innovation, policy excellence, and global impact. Committed to shaping a future where lifelong learning is an opportunity pathway for all, Lolowa has built a career distinguished in creating such access. Her visionary leadership spans roles in education, innovative civic growth, and game changing policy development. Working to ensure a thriving, knowledge-based society for her country, she has driven national strategies that empower people, strengthen communities, and position the UAE as a global leader. Currently the Associate Vice Provost at New York University Abu Dhabi, Lolowa plays a pivotal role in shaping academic policies, enhancing student success, and fostering institutional innovation. Her remit extends beyond academia, as she spearheads global partnerships and cross-sector collaborations that integrate education with community development, leadership cultivation, and international engagement. While her work contributes to NYU-Abu Dhabi’s ranking as a top-tier international university, it also reinforces the UAE’s position as a global knowledge hub. In the first wave of Emirati women to receive her doctorate, Lolowa is passionate about leaving the door open for all to succeed. In successive roles across the education value chain, she embedded initiatives designed to create a strong foundation that would foster future leaders and innovators. As the Special Projects Expert at the Abu Dhabi Early Childhood Authority, she ensured that early childhood development programs met international standards yet reflected Emirati culture. During her tenure as Senior Manager at Abu Dhabi Technology Development Committee and Project Manager at Department of Education and Knowledge, she led transformative science and technology initiatives, integrating STEM initiatives and research-driven learning into UAE institutions. Operating at a policy level as well, she has played a critical role in developing the UAE talent pool for knowledge-based economy readiness. Lolowa’s understanding of how to develop people within the community and as a talent pool, extends into strengthening institutions and society. She was instrumental in securing Zayed University’s accreditation and advancing UAE education quality assurance. A staunch advocate for civic responsibility, she has designed and led national leadership and service programs that reinforce the importance of integrating volunteering and nation building into education to drive responsible citizenship. Recognized for her contributions, Lolowa has represented the UAE in international forums on education, innovation, and sustainable community development. She has published research on education, leadership, and policy transformation. Serving on the board of the Association of Scientific Centers in North Africa and the Middle East (NAMES), Board Advisor at Abu Dhabi University, she also champions regional collaboration in education and community engagement. Her commitment to lifelong learning extends to the arts as well. In her role as a Goodwill Ambassador for the China Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, she promotes cultural exchange. Lolowa holds a PhD in Management and Leadership from the British University in Dubai. She earned her Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Zayed University, where she also completed her Bachelor’s degree. She dedicates her philanthropy and service to causes that position education as a pillar of national strength and lifelong learning as a necessary tool to empower the UAE’s people with the skills to lead, innovate, and drive the nation’s ambitions forward.
