
Hatem El-Hady
Representative of the Bahá’í International Community for the Arab region
Hatem El-Hady joined the Baha’i International Community in 2022 as Representative to the Arab World. The Baha’i International Community (BIC), established at the inception of the United Nations, is a non-governmental organization with consultative status at the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC). Through its work and engagement with international institutions, the BIC contributes to global discourse on issues related to the wellbeing, unity, and advancement of humanity.
Originally from Egypt, Hatem has been actively engaged in public discourse and social development efforts since 2011. Between 2011 and 2014, he served on an Egyptian delegation that focused on social discourse and questions related to Egypt’s future direction, and eventually contributed to consultations surrounding the drafting of a new national constitution. During this period, perspectives grounded in principles of unity, social cohesion, and constructive dialogue were offered to a broad range of public conversations taking place across the country.
Hatem has been a Fellow of the Aspen Institute since 2009 and led its values-based Middle East Leadership Initiative from 2017 to 2023, supporting the development of principled leadership across the region. His professional career spans leadership roles in higher education and global technology organizations, including executive positions at The University of the Built Environment in the UK, as well as senior global governance, strategy, and operations roles at Microsoft across the Middle East, Europe, Africa, Asia-Pacific, and Greater China.
